Artist Statement:
Eyes Only explores the experience of lipreading. By covering the face and leaving only the eyes visible, the work reflects the challenges Deaf people face when facial expressions and mouth movements are hidden. The image also evokes the feeling of wearing a mask, where communication becomes limited and important visual cues are lost.
